Beautiful hotel let down by pathetic staff!

The hotel was fantastic with good location and great rooms! We had booked opera suite which was fantastic. The staff completely ruins the experience! It’s like they are unhappy with their job and they want to show it on the guests! We wanted to redeem our Accor points and settle the bill on the night earlier to our departure as our flight was quite early the next day. They dint let us redeem our points for the full stay though I had enough points to cover for the entire stay saying they have a limit of 10k rupees(converted) that can be redeemed with points. This was the first time I heard of such a thing afte staying st many Accor properties over the years. I dint want to argue about it so agreed to whatever the limit they suggested . The person present on the front desk kept sulking so much about it that we suddenly felt we were in a 2 star hotel. People don’t come to 5 star hotels for just the good rooms and glittery stuff! Service and hospitality is the most important thing one would expect from a 5 star and this property lacks beyond measure in that regard! Not one staff member was greeting with a smile or looked welcoming! Such a good hotel let down by such pathetic staff! Unfortunate!

Just leaving Sofitel Damansara. Correct but not at Sofitel's standards. Positive : - very nice spa ; - good position near KLCC (not so far, but far from traffic) Negative : - All bars and restaurants : last order at ... 9h30 pm !! >> this is unbelievable and unacceptable for a *****. - main restaurant ("kwee zean") like a corporate canteen : too often crowded, very noisy. Two other restos in the hotel (chinese and mediterranean, in upper levels) but ghostly atmosphere.

This hotel has always been my favourite staycation. I had a nighter on 1st May here. Despite some flaws, I still had an enjoyable stay. Check in was a breeze with a room upgrade to a junior suite. The suite was well appointed. Sadly, the dusty smell was quite intense. My stay came with lounge access and complimentary breakfast . The lounge served all day long beverages like coffee, tea, sodas, premium sparkling water and still water, cookies and nuts, fresh juice. A delectable afternoon tea and scrumptious evening cocktail spread were offered. The lounge, in my opinion, had been an oasis of serenity. Mr Ikbal was definitely a gem-studded staff who made my stay extremely pleasant. All staff from Reception, Concierge and Housekeeping were equally attentive, friendly and approachable. They wore GENUINE smiles at work!!! Breakfast at Kwee Zeen was indeed impressive. I personally liked the crispy fried and egg benedict. I also availed myself to the Surf and Turf buffet dinner. The huge spread was outstanding with all The staff taking good care of me and my delighting fellow diner. Both of us felt like royalty. A special mention to Hanafi, Ridzuan, Chef Shafiq and Ashnida who deserve a raise. Lastly, i redeemed my welcome drink at the pool bar. Aiman was great but Mr. Izzat was stupendous whom i regard him as another great asset to the hotel. I have no qualms in returning to this business hotel for any occasion.

Booked this hotel for a 4 nights stay in Kuala Lumpur. Wanted to avoid the main city area which was always crowded and this hotel location served this purpose. The entry was grand with porters and doormen greeting us the moment we stepped out of the grab car. Impressive indeed. Check-in was fast and efficient and we proceeded to check out our room with lots of excitement. This was not the first time that we had used the Sofitel chain of hotels and the lobbies, corridors and hospitality standard were similar to the ones located in other countries. Room was big with a walk-in closet, a huge bathtub, a separate shower and toilet area. There was a nespresso machine in-room to ensure that we would have our coffee fix. Bed was a king size one and the mattress was extremely comfortable. I seriously had nothing to complain about the room and spent the next four nights enjoying facilities in the hotel like the gym and the pool. They even had a sauna and steam room at level three, inside the washroom outside the gym. Every where I went in the hotel, I was always greeted by the friendly staff. Gym was well equipped for a proper workout. Pool was great with a jacuzzi as well. Tried two food and beverage outlets inside the hotel, which were the morning breakfast area and the lobby cafe called Le Bar. Again, the service standard was great and food tasty. Just that compared to other Sofitels, the breakfast quality and variety seem a bit lacking. All in all, a wonderful stay and this would be my go-to hotel in future in Kuala lumpur.
